Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon, also known as “Blue Hole” is probably one of the most beautiful places on earth and perhaps the most visited in the San San area. In the 50’s and 60’s it was owned by the famous Robin Moore, author of the “Green Berets”. Hollywood stars Errol Flynn, Eddie Fisher, Elizabeth Taylor, Robin Williams, Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, and so many others were seen partying here. India Arie, No Doubt, Shakira, Drake and Rhinna are just some of the music celebrities who have visited.

The natural underground springs contribute to the unique and mystifying deep blue/green colour of the water with a layer of fresh cold water on top of the warm salty lagoon below. This lush tropical, romantic paradise has been attracting movie producers and music video makers from the beginning of times and the location was used in the movie Club Paradise (Robin Williams). However, this was not the location for Brooke Shields movie ”The Blue Lagoon”.

Water skiing was popular in the lagoon and is 180ft deep attracting free divers all over. David Lee, master free diver made his first world record here in 2004. Since the Hurricane Ivan in 2004, the restaurant had been damaged and to date has not been re-opened although there are plans to refurbish. Local vendors have taken the opportunity to make a living there by selling trinkets and offering boating and rafting in and around the lagoon for a fee. There is no entrance fee.
